Saw "Oblivion" tonight and am feeling confused and underwhelmed. Definitely had elements of "Tron: Legacy", "Solaris" and "2001: A Space Odyssey." All the time during the movie I kept thinking "Ok, there is something more, something I'm not getting, soon we'll be getting to the BIG reveal..." but it never really happened. It was obvious from early on (yes, I read one or two reviews of the movie) that the premise of Tom Cruise's character's mission was false, but the extent to which it is false is underwhelming. It just felt like it had so much potential and it kinda fell flat. I think I'll watch some "Family Guy" or the original Solaris to defrag my systems.
Been slowly getting back into Gary Taubes' Good Calories; Bad Calories. It's only 400ish pages of text (plus 200 some pages of references, notes and and index) but it is a dense 400ish pages.
I'm still plugging away at PSU's free Mapping course...played with ESRI's ArcGIS map tool last night and will do some more tomorrow. There is still the potential for me to start the GEOINT certificate program; just need to find out what kind of tuition assistance PSU offers.
No work out tonight...after the movie, my coworkers who I convinced to see the movie with me didn't want to go so I succumbed (succame?) to peer pressure and called tonight a "rest day." Basically made a chef salad for dinner...then went back and made a sandwich of lettuce, turkey slices, roast beef slices, onions and mustard. Dessert was a Gala apple. My body is going to be shocked when I get home and reintroduce hard cider and mead.
If I had a guitar amplifier, it'd be this one.

Hard boiled eggs try to hide beneath turkey bacon, but they can't hide forever. |
